Raising money for homeless services is a group calling themselves “The Loopy Walkers" who are attempting a 200km challenge.

In a series of 25km walks the group, led by charity trustee Winston Reid, hope to raise much-needed funds for Waltham Forest Churches Night Shelter (Branches).

The events will also celebrate Branches’ 25 years of providing housing and related support services to single homeless adults in Waltham Forest.

Winston said: “Before the pandemic struck, we had walked the Capital Ring, LOOP and the Thames Path (from source to mouth) and raised £15,600 for the work of Branches.

“Now we are off again in and around London, Essex, Herts and Kent.”

They have so far completed the Epping Forest Centenary Walk, explored London via The Jubilee Greenway, and the New River Path, a water supply aqueduct built in 1613 to bring drinking water from Hertfordshire to Islington.

Other walks planned include The Grand Union Canal, The Green Chain and the Essex Way.

Corporate Sponsors, SightSales Property Group, based in Loughton, and Fullers Builders Ltd, based in Walthamstow Village will each donate £2,500 when we reach our fundraising target of £2,500.
