A weekend of soul and rave music festivals have been given the go ahead at Hainault Recreation Ground in September.
The three festivals planned for September 23 to 25 include soul music on Friday night, rave music on Saturday and a family-friendly festival on Sunday.
Including staff, up to 5,000 people are expected each day, with music to end by 10pm.
Redbridge’s licensing sub-committee approved the plans following a meeting at the town hall last Friday, adding a condition that there must be a toilet-to-people ratio of 1:70.
Soultasia, on Friday September 23, will feature soul singers including Jocelyn Brown and Kenny Thomas and is expected to attract a “more mature audience”.
On Saturday September 24, Moondance x AWOL x Sunbourne Festival is expected to attract a younger crowd with drum-and-bass, house and garage DJs.
The final festival, Raver Tots, describing itself as the “biggest and best family friendly outdoor festival”, will also feature a line-up of house, garage and drum-and-bass artists.
According to the risk assessment, the Saturday event has been rated as high risk, with “music, alcohol, potential drug misuse and the risk of assaults and fighting”.
The licensing documents name Garage Nation owner James Shadimehr as the festival director, and Viking Events as the event managers.
Local councillors Joyce Ryan and Ruth Clark both wrote objections to the events, saying they were concerned about the number of people, loud music and crime and disorder.
But council officers advised the committee that the event management plan is “sufficient”.
In 2018 four people were stabbed during a brawl in a VIP area of Garage Nation, held nearby in Hainault Forest Country Park.
