BTEC and A level results are in today with students at Leyton Sixth Form College, Higham's Park School, Waltham Forest College, and Holy Family Catholic School & Sixth Form celebrating top results.
The schools each emphasized the amazing achievement from this year's students, who had to deal with remote lessons and missed the chance to sit GCSEs and therefore lacked the usual exam experience.
Leyton Sixth Form College celebrated as almost two thirds of students were awarded top A*, A and B grades, or the vocational equivalent.
Principal Gill Burbridge said: “These results represent a very significant achievement in the face of complex and challenging external contexts.
"We are therefore immensely proud of their achievements in the face of considerable adversity and delighted that so many of our students achieved the success they deserve."
Higham's Park School students gained record results as 57% of grades came back A*-B.
The school also lauded their BTEC students who as with ten students achieved starred distinctions in Business, Sport, or Health and Social Care.
Principal Phil Grundy said: “We are so proud of the achievements of our Year 13 students this year.
"Our best ever results despite all of the incredible challenges these young people have faced.”
There was more BTEC success at Waltham Forest College where students, including Triple Starred Distinction earning BTEC business student Michelle Sichitiu, were celebrating top marks.
She said: “It has been a tough year with what is happening around the world and one thing the College has taught us is to become resilient.
“I have worked so hard to achieve the top marks whilst maintaining a part-time role."
Deputy principal of Waltham Forest College Hassan Rizvi said: “This is a true testament of their hard work and dedication."
Holy Family Catholic School & Sixth Form celebrated 50% of A level grades coming back A*-B and 56% distinctions and above in BTECs.
The results mean that more than 85% of students will be taking up places at university this year
Headteacher Dr Stone said: “After the struggles of the pandemic, and periods of lockdown, we hope they can now look forwards and enjoy their time at university or starting their careers. Many congratulations to all of them.”
