AN 88-year-old man was mugged in broad daylight in a busy street after visiting a bank.
The pensioner was walking in Church Lane, Leytonstone, after visiting the nearby Nat West branch at 1.30pm last Tuesday (February 26).
A group of robbers then grabbed him from behind, dragged him to the floor and stole the £1,700 he was carrying and his passport.
The victim, who was left badly shaken after the attack, was unable to give a description of his attackers.
Police say there have been two similar incidents in Waltham Forest in the last two weeks and suspect an organised gang are preying on vulnerable people who withdraw money.
One of the gang is believed to identify victims inside branches and two other members carry out the robbery.
Officers will examine the bank's CCTV footage.
