A GAS leak shut down Cenktral Line Tube services between Loughton and Epping for four hours today (Wednesday).
National Grid engineers have fixed the leaking pipe close to the track east of Woodford station and services resumed at around 4pm.
A national Grid spokeswoman insisted the line closure was a precautionary measure and travellers and residents were not in danger.
She said: "There is still some minor work to do at the scene, but we have now left the site and services are returning to normal."
"The work should not cause any further disruption."
