Ruislip 12
Woodford 22
(London Two North)
WOODFORD beat Ruislip and look to be hitting a purple patch just as the season's run-in commences.
Peter Christey's side started strongly and number eight Robbie Connell opened the scoring on 12 minutes, following a ruck after a lineout.
Connell struck again midway through the period when he pounced after a nervy Ruislip player fumbled possession and dived across for another unconverted score. Joe Green then applied the finishing touch to another move just before the end of the first half.
He received a inside ball from Hugh Levis and rode two tackles to score under the posts. This time Levis' kick sailed between the up-rights to make it 0-17 at the interval.
Ruislip put the visitors under extensive pressure in the second half, and wreaked havoc in the back line.
On 55 minutes the hosts battled over the try line for a try that was also converted.
Woodford hit back and drove their way over the line. In the mixer, it was impossible to know who touched down the ball. Levis put the kick wide.
Ruislip got another touch down back late on, but it was too late as Woodford had put in the work earlier to guarantee them a fine victory.
Afterwards, Woodford coach Christey said: "We're very pleased. We played with confidence and belief, and also used the windy conditions very well."
