MALDON scored an early try and the conversion was added from wide on the right to make it 0-7.
The visitors soon added a penalty to stretch their lead. Wanstead's forwards began to get the better of their opposing pack. From a lineout catch by John Kenlin, the resulting maul ended with Dave Moran getting the home sides' first score.
Stuart Smith missed the conversion though to leave it at 5-10.
Maldon scored under the sticks. And with the extras added it was now 5-17 to the visitors Herons' Andy Donovan scored a try but missed the conversion to leave it at 10-17 at half time.
In the final ten minutes of the second half Danny Burns scored from a lineout catch and drive. Andy Donovan hit the conversion to tie the scores at 17 all.
It was not to be Wanstead's day though as Maldon powered their way down field and drove over to score the match-winning try.
