Buckhurst Hill A 1
Tigers A 0

(Echo Friendly League U8s) BUCKHURST Hill A christened their new Guardian kit with a win against a spirited Tigers side.

The new Vandanel shorts, socks and shirts, were the first prize in a Guardian competition for junior football clubs asking for players to write in their reasons why their team deserved the strip.

For Harry Cuthbert, Sunday's game was extra special. He entered the competition where he described Buckhurst Hill as a 'fantastic' junior club.

He also detailed how his U8s team had been unbeaten in over two seasons, a feat worthy of the prize.

In Sunday's game the two side were evenly matched, although Hill had more goal chances. However, after the break, an invigorated Hill took the lead.

A corner kick from Madden found Kibblewhite who shot into the left hand corner of the net for a well-deserved goal.

Hills defence was sound, Downer and Madden holding the back line supported by Birch and Stephens in midfield and Barton and Kibblewhite on each side.

Keeper Madden did the team proud by producing some great saves towards the end of the game.

Cuthbert and Pike made good runs on goal but their chances were thwarted by the Tigers keeper.

In the last minute Madden took a curling free kick from outside the box that hit the cross bar, denying them of another goal which their play deserved.
