A CCTV image of a man police want to question in connection with the armed robbery of a post office has been released.

Flying Squad detectives want to interview the middle-aged man in connection with the robbery at Wood Street Post Office in Walthamstow on October 24 last year.

The robber threatened staff with a handgun as they delivered cash.

He ordered one of the employees to throw bags of money out of a van before running off towards Wood Street railway station.

Police believe he escaped on a train heading to Liverpool Street.

One of the Post Office employees was taken to Whipps Cross University Hospital and treated for minor hand injuries and shock.

The man is described as white, between 35-50 years of age, between 5'9" and 5'11" and of a medium build.

He was seen wearing a brown patterned flat cap, beige 3/4 length rain coat and shirt and tie.

He was carrying a red carrier bag with the word 'sale' on it.
