Tottenham first-team coach Gus Poyet was delighted with the 4-0 win over West Ham at White Hart Lane.
He said the players responded in just the manner required after two successive defeats.
Poyet said: "We were looking for a reaction from the players and we got that reaction."
The red card of West Ham's Luis Boa Morte helped Spurs' cause, something not lost on Poyet.
He added: "The early goals from Dimitar Berbatov helped our team, as did the sending off of Boa Morte. He was making too many fouls and that's why he was sent off."
Boss Juande Ramos added: "This result allowed the players to recover their morale after the defeat in the UEFA Cup."
West Ham's Alan Curbishley, following three consecutive 4-0 defeats, said: "We've had a dreadful week."
