Young Parmiterians 1
Waltham Abbey 2
(Cheshunt Youth League Cup) WALTHAM ABBEY continued their stunning form of 22 wins in 23 games to earn themselves a Cheshunt League Cup Final place.
The Abbotts began very sharp and direct with Chris Flanagan and man of the match Joe Welch causing no end of problems for the Parmiterians' back four.
This persistence paid off very early as a break involving Carl Spillett and Jack Marrion, put forward Flanagan in for him to neatly finish his 11th goal in the 15 games he's played in.
The match became very open from here on and only Aaron Tillbrook's reading of the game, stopped Parms from equalising.
The hosts also had another chance just before the break, but Rio Bryan's effort was cleared off the line.
Minutes later the lead was doubled through a quick goal kick from Tillbrook which found Welch, for him to smash home his sixth goal of the campaign.
The second half saw Tillbrook forced into another good save.
With Spillett injured Welch slotted in at the back and put in a solid display there.
Abbey were under constant pressure, but with the presence of Denzil Noloko and Charlie Danna upfront, always looked frightening on the break.
The game finished on a knife-edge as a stunning strike made the score 2-1.
However, Abbey comfortably saw out the last ten minutes.
The Abbotts now face Winchmore Hill in the final.
