DEFENDER Jonathan Woodgate has spoken of the penalty heartache the Spurs players felt after their Uefa Cup shoot-out agony in Holland last night.
Tottenham had put on a lion-heart performance in the Philips Stadion to beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the second leg, after Dimitar Berbatov's sublime second half volley cancelled out the Dutch champions first-leg victory by the same scoreline at White Hart Lane.
That sent the last Round of 16 tie into extra time and then ultimately penalties, where first Jermaine Jenas had a chance to win the shoot-out with the last of the initial five kicks. But his weak shot was easily saved by keeper Heurelho Gomes, before Pascal Chimbonda then sent the 12th spot-kick wide to send PSV through.
"No-one likes to lose on penalties, it is not nice really - but we did not play well in the first leg.
"They did not have a chance in this game and we kept them busy but full credit to them, they got through on the night," a disappointed Woodgate told Five.
