AN 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a collision late last night between a Gilera moped and a policeman.
The officer had left his patrol vehicle to flag down the driver of the moped when the incident took place in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, at 10.42pm.
He was at the time responding to reports of a stolen car in the area and wanted to speak to the teenager in connection with the inquiry.
The police officer suffered a suspected broken leg and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he is in a stable condition.
The driver of the moped was also taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged. He is being held in custody.
Officers from Waltham Forest are investigating the incident.
