Man City 2 Spurs 1 . . .
Spurs were unable to end a disappointing week on a high at Eastlands this afternoon.
The Lilywhites, trying to put Thursday's UEFA Cup exit behind them, fell to defeat against a City side even more desperate for a win.
The hosts have endured a miserable spell, but they got back to winning ways in an entertaining encounter.
Tottenham, who had beaten the Sky Blues in the last eight meetings between these two sides, looked to be on course for another three points, when Robbie Keane put them ahead with a spectacular first-half strike, his 21st goal of the season.
However, the day was to end on a sour note for Keane. He was substituted after the break and showed his disappointment as he came off the pitch, much to the amusement of the home fans.
The home side levelled through Stephen Ireland after the break, the City player hooking home the ball from close range. Nedum Onuoha then hit the winner, rising unchallenged to head past Paul Robinson.
It was City's first home win since before Christmas and deserved, the Lilywhites failing to build on Keane's opener and never really looking like salvaging a point once Onuoha had put the hosts ahead.
