A MAN and a woman were arrested during a drugs crackdown in Epping High Street.
A 27-year-old Harlow man was detained on Friday evening and taken to Loughton police station after police seized what is believed to be a class A drug.
Four sniffer dogs helped police officers when they searched pubs and car parks in the area and carried out random spot checks on people in the High Street.
A pub, which has not been identified by police, was found to have drug-using equipment in the toilets, although no drugs were found. The licensees of each of the four premises searched agreed to the checks.
A Harlow woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis.
The operation was carried out by police community support officers working in conjunction with two licensing officers from Epping Police Station and Epping Forest District Council.
Epping-based police licensing officer Simon Fisher said: "We intend to carry out similar operations in the future throughout the district. We will not tolerate illegal drugs and any persons found in possession of them will be arrested."
