SPURS have been placed on red alert that long-time target David Villa has announced that he may leave Spanish strugglers Valencia at the end of the season, writes Iain Liddle.

According to media reports the striker is said to be willing to listen to any offers that may be forthcoming.

Valencia have struggled under the leadership of Ronald Koeman, currently sitting in tenth place and the prolific striker, who has been the highest scoring Spaniard in La Liga for the past two years, is believed to have lost patience with the under performing side.

Spurs are amongst a host of suitors to have been linked with Villa in recent times and will be encouraged by reports from Spain where the 26-year-old former Real Zaragoza man implies he may need a move for the sake of his own career.

Villa, with only one goal in eight outings this season, told Goal Magazine: "I have always listened when there have been offers and I am still determined to do what is best for my career, but of course with the consent of the club as I have a contract.

"I have to think about my future and that is what I am going to do. I will listen to anything, like I always have."
