West Ham United Ladies 11
Rayne Cygnets 1
(Essex County Girls U16s League Cup semi-final) DESPITE the appalling conditions West Ham produced some great attacking football and it was not long before Kimmilee Day had collected a pass from Maddie Thomas and slotted home to take the lead.
Thomas then struck number two on the 20 minute mark. Rayne made the most of a strong wind behind them by scoring next to make the scoreline 2-1 at half time.
With the wind now behind them the Hammers came out with all guns blazing and soon found their goal scoring touch with hat-tricks notched up by Kimmilee Day, Emma Sherwood and Maddie Thomas.
Day then collected a kick upfield from goalkeeper Chloe Coombs who raced into the box to fire home her fourth of the game.
The best was left until last when Alex Keown picked up the ball from a throw in and raced to the edge of the Rayne box and fired into the roof of the net.
Hammers now travel to Maldon in May to face Chelmsford City.
