SPURS defender Michael Dawson looks set to demand a transfer away from the club in the summer, with a possible move to Kevin Keegan's Newcastle in the pipeline, writes James Randall.

The former Nottingham Forest centre half has struggled to cement a first team place under new boss Juande Ramos and is reported to be unsettled at the north London club.

It is understood that providing that Keegan keeps his Toon side in the Premier League, boss Mike Ashley will hand him a transfer kitty to lure the 24-year-old Dawson to St James Park.

Press reports that Ramos is set to bid for Espanyol defender Daniel Jarque, if true, would place Dawson further away from a starting role.

Dawson joined Tottenham from Forest in 2005 for an undisclosed fee, and has since made 92 appearances for the club and signed a contract extension in May to keep him at White Hart Lane until 2012.
