WITH just two actors playing characters between them, the cast are in for a busy night when the Millfield Theatre plays host to the stage play, Two.
Set entirely in a northern pub, the production is described as 'funny with a dark side' by Julie Higginson, who stars in the play alongside Rob Hudson.
Two was written by Jim Cartwright, the creator of Little Voices which starred Jane Horrocks in the big screen version.
Higginson, who has TV credits in Emmerdale amongst others to her name, and Hudson have also worked together in a stage production of Little Voices.
"We had kind of got used to Jim Cartwright's stuff," she explained.
With the pair taking all the roles in Two, the actors only have short breaks and Higginson admits it can get a bit confusing as to which part they are playing.
"You have to think on your feet sometimes," she said.
The play is very much character-driven. The stage props are minimal, with just a bar and couple of tables providing the setting.
"There's humour and pathos," said Higginson. "the whole of life is there."
Two, which is produced by the Hull Truck Theatre, is at the Millfield Theatre, Silver Street, Edmonton on Tuesday, April 1 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12/£10 concs.
