VILLARREAL have told Spurs that they don't want to sell their highly-rated keeper Diego Lopez.

The north Londoners posted an interest in the 26-year-old stopper, who has made a big impact at the El Madrigal since his £4 million move from Real Madrid last summer.

Have broken out of the shadows of being Spanish international Iker Casillas understudy at Madrid, Lopez's performances have caught the eye of a number of top clubs around Europe.

Manchester United, Manchester City and AC Milan have all been linked to him in the past, while Villarreal president Fernando Roig has admitted interest from Tottenham over the weekend.

"He is a big keeper and we want him to be with this club for a long time," Roig told Spanish TV station Canal 9.

"It's true that clubs like Milan and Tottenham have asked about the chances of getting him but we have no desire to sell."

And with Lopez recently agreeing to sign a contract extension with the Spanish outfit until 2014, which has a mind-boggling £27million release cause, Spurs would have to break the bank to pursue their interest.
