A MAN is due in court today accused of causing the death of a Leyton woman by dangerous driving during a high-speed police chase.

Jake Collis, 22, of Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, will appear at South Western Magistrates Court, in Clapham.

Raquel Williams, 31, died on Sunday when the Vauxhall Corsa she was travelling in was in collision with a Mercedes in Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch.

A man and a 19-month-old baby, who are in the car at the time, are in a critical condition.

The fatal crash happened soon after officers switched on the car's blue lights as they pursued the black Mercedes 4x4 at about 3.45am on Sunday.

Two other people, a 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were also arrested in connection with the incident.

They have been bailed to return to separate east London police stations in late April and early May, pending further enquiries.
