A BOOKMAKER who has worked at Walthamstow Stadium since the 1950s passed away yesterday.
Richie O'Gorman died in the early hours of the morning aged 73.
His son Joe, who now runs the bookies shop at the Chingford Road venue, told the Racing Post newspaper: "Dad had suffered with illness in recent years, but he was still very much in the background and doing the bookwork.
"He also filled in for me when I had a rare day off at the track and I know he'll be sadly missed, not just by us of course, but by all the people that he got to know so well at the Stow."
The track's racing manager Chris Page said: "The O'Gorman family history goes way back at Walthamstow and Richie was a proper old-school bookmaker.
"I'd like to express my deepest sympathy."
