I THINK the very idea of closing the post office in South Woodford is ludicrous.
It serves a large population, many of whom would find it very hard to walk down George Lane to the next nearest one. Other people would choose to use their cars to save time and this would only add to the congestion in the area that already exists.
On a Saturday it can take ten minutes to get from the Churchill statue to George Lane as it is, not to mention the extra pollution.
Once at the post office you are then subject to a long wait. Very rarely can you go in there without a queue which stretches right to the door.
If anything the South Woodford Post Office should be upgraded to deal with all things, such as car tax etc. which would get more people using it and relieve the George Lane branch from the long queues.
