UNDER the lease granted by the Wadham Lodge Trust, Waltham Forest FC undertook to administer the ground in lieu of rent (Football club's race to find new home ground,' March 20).

This arrangement continued for some years until our then chairman, Harry Ramis, left after having pumped in a great deal of money.

The trust stepped in and, without discussion, broke the terms of the lease by setting up a users' committee to run the ground.

From then on, with our next chairman Terry Back, we tried to get the trust to return to the status quo by providing it with a plan whereby we would seek to help the trust minimise the losses it made.

Last October, we agreed to the demands of the trust that we would pay £6,000 to use the ground on alternate Saturdays through the season.

In February we were summoned to another meeting when the rent demand had mysteriously risen to £8,000. We agreed to this but pointed out that, as a senior football team, we needed some form of income and asked for a share of the profits made through the bar when we had home matches.

This was rejected.

We believe the reason the trust has been losing so much money for 20 years is poor administration.
