ARSENAL have been linked with a move for Getafe midfielder Ruben De la Red after the Spanish club's president claimed the Emirates side wanted the player.
De la Red is on-loan from Real Madrid and has made a big impact at Getafe, starring in the Dark Blues' impressive run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup this season, and he has attracted attention from premier league clubs.
However, the club's president Angel Torres has insisted the player will return to the Bernabeu after completing his loan spell at the end of the current campaign.
"My impression is that, although Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal want him, De la Red is going to return to Madrid to stay," said Torres.
Arsene Wenger may face a midfield dilemma this summer, as defensive midfielder Mathieu Flamini is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, after being linked with a move to Juventus and AC Milan.
And 22-year-old De la Red, who plays in the same position as Flamini, may prove an attractive option if Wenger's hand is forced should Flamini leave the Emirates this summer.
