One driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The in-service bus was operated by Go-Ahead London, while the out-of-service bus was operated by Stagecoach.
TFL and Go-Ahead group both commented that “this incident is the subject of an ongoing investigation, which is yet to conclude" and remained tight lipped about the details of what occurred and the resulting damage.
A photo shows significant damage, with the front windows damaged on both buses and part of the side of the Go-Ahead bus hanging loose while part of the front of the Stagecoach bus appears to have fallen off.
Stagecoach has also been approached for comment and has said it will provide an update.
