A man survived a stabbing through “sheer luck” in a violent theft, police have said.
The victim and a woman, both in their 20s, were walking home from a music event before the attack on September 4.
At around 2.45am, two masked suspects rushed towards the victims in Lammas Road, Leyton, and tried to steal the man’s bag.
As they tried to stop the suspects, the man was attacked and his arms were stabbed several times.
Detective Constable Shanice Benjamin, from the local policing team in Waltham Forest, said one of the stab wounds severed an artery and it was “sheer luck” that the outcome was not far more serious.
An appeal has been launched to find two suspects.
One is described as white, 5ft 6ins, in his late-teens and he was wearing a Kappa tracksuit.
The other is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, in his late teens, around 5ft 11ins and was wearing a grey tracksuit with a navy-blue pattern.
DC Benjamin said: "These are clearly dangerous offenders and it is vital that we locate and arrest them as soon as possible.
“We have already carried out a range of enquiries and would now like to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have information or footage."
Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call officers on 101 quoting CAD 1162/04Sep. Alternatively, contact anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
