A Paralympic medallist cut the ribbon to open a new Aldi supermarket.
The budget supermarket in Cork Tree Retail Park became the budget chain's first Chingford branch when it opened at 8am yesterday (November 10).
It has created 25 new jobs in the area.
Bronze medallist Oliver Lam-Watson gave away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables to the first 30 customers in the queue, before leading an assembly at Chase Lane Primary School.
Store manager Jolita Chomiciene said: “It’s been a wonderful morning here at the opening of Aldi Chingford.
“It was lovely to welcome our new customers into store, and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks. I’m also thrilled that we’ve been able to support Chase Lane Primary School through our partnership with Paralympics GB.”
