London Fire Brigade is tackling a flat fire in Chingford this evening, it has announced.
The brigade has shared information with the public regarding the fire via its website and Twitter feed.
Where possible, members of the public should avoid the area as the blaze continues.
In a tweet, London Fire Brigade said: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are tackling a flat fire with shops below on #Chingford Mount Road. Please avoid the area if possible. More soon.”

With a link to its website updates, it added: “Firefighters continue to deal with the #Chingford Mount Road flat fire that is in the loft space. No reports of any injuries”
Pictures shared on Twitter by the fire brigade show flames coming from an upstairs flat.
Station Commander Paul Green said: “Fire crews are working hard to bring the fire under control. Chingford Mount Road is closed between Frances Road and Royston Avenue. Please avoid the area if possible.”
The Brigade was called at 4.17pm and the cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of writing.
