A care home resident has welcomed the beginning of 2023 by celebrating her 100th birthday.
Majorie Brockington, nee Congram, turned 100 years old on January 2 at St Ives Lodge Care Home in Chingford.
She celebrated the special day with an afternoon tea at the care home with her family and received a card from the King.

Majorie said that she felt very overwhelmed by the whole day but was very happy to be celebrating her 100th birthday.
Majorie was born in Islington in 1923. Her father was a policeman and her mother was a waitress.
She married her husband Leslie Brockington who was a postman and the couple enjoyed travelling.
They have two sons, Ronald and Anthony, and two grandchildren named Jennifer and Philip.
Majorie, who was an accomplished ballroom dancer, also has three grandchildren named Isobel, Tabitha and Anthony.
During the Second World War, she served in the Auxiliary Fire Service and lived in Holloway until 1961 which is when she moved to Chingford.
Majorie was a shorthand typist for all of her working life and worked for London Rubber Company in Chingford until her retirement.
