Fire crews tackled a blaze which destroyed part of a stairwell in a block of flats in Whitechapel.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze in a six-storey block of flats in the High Street, just after 6.15am on Friday (April 14).
A stairwell running from the fourth floor to the fifth floor of the building was destroyed by fire, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Road closures were put in place to allow crews to work safely.
The brigade's 999 control officers received 14 calls about the fire.
The fire was under control by 7.11am.
Fire engines from Whitechapel, Shadwell, Old Kent Road and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by LFB and Metropolitan Police.
