These pictures are of the old Horse Pond on the High Road looking North West to Loughton.
These ponds, particularly those on through roads, were designed for horse and carts to drive through to stop the wheels joints from drying out and to cool the brakes after traveling down hills.
Despite the motor car ruling the roads, this pond still survives to this day.
