This picture of a quiet Loughton High Road was taken in the early 1920s, over 100 years ago.
The Royal Standard (left) dates back to at least 1862 and predates many of the buildings opposite including Lopping Hall.
It was the last pub standing at the southern end of the town and is now a Gastro Bar.
