Fire crews worked overnight to extinguish 50 tonnes of waste that burst into flames.
Eight fire engines and around 60 crew were scrambled to a blaze at a waste facility in Osier Way, Leyton on Monday (June 17).
Around 50 tonnes of rubbish was alight and producing a large amount of smoke.
Residents in the immediate area were asked to remain inside, keeping doors and windows shut, as crews responded.
The Brigade received the first of around 15 calls reporting the fire at 10.20pm and had the flames extinguished by 3.53am.
Crews remained on scene into the morning.
Firefighters from Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
