A father-of-two has been named as the victim of a "heinous attack" in Waltham Forest, and a woman arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Josh McKay, 33, of Waltham Forest, has today (July 8) been named by detectives as the man who died after a stabbing in Lea Bridge Road on Saturday (July 6).

Police had been called just before 3pm that day to reports of a man stabbed. Despite London's Air Ambulance attending he died at the scene.

Yesterday (July 7) a woman, 38, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody.

Josh's family have issued a statement after the attack which was labelled "heinous" by MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy on X.

"The heart of our family has stopped beating," Josh's family said. "The world is less bright without his beautiful smile."

Formal identification awaits after detectives named Josh the victim and his family continue to be supported by police.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley from specialist crime command said: "Two children have been left without a father. 

"If you saw anything, or have information regarding the person who killed Josh, please do the right thing and call us," she added.
