Film crews have been spotted working inside a pub in Wanstead this week. 

The Nightingale on the Green in Nightingale Lane was taken over yesterday (July 8) whilst a production team shot scenes for a short film. 

William Castle, executive producer for the film, said: "It's a short film that has been crowdfunded - it's a charity film. 

"It's showcasing the struggles that people who have been bereaved by suicide go through on a daily basis. 

"It's a joint venture between myself and a charity called Suicide & Co.

The project has been called Heirlooms and the release date has yet to be confirmed. 

William explained that the Nightingale had been discovered as their set unexpectedly.

He said: "How did we discover it? By chance really. We are based sort of locally because our house base is in Chigwell. 

"This pub - it looks beautiful, it's very aesthetically pleasing.

"It's got the green to the side as well. It ticked all the right boxes so we approached them and they very kindly let us use it."

According to its website, Nightingale on the Green has been "lovingly restored", with wooden floors throughout, a modern bar and plush seating. 

It is nestled on the corner of a residential road and plays host to a number of events, including quiz nights, DJs, Irish bands, and now film crews. 

William said: "They have been really lovely. They've just been really special and fantastic."

On its website, Suicide & Co says its mission is to support bereaved individuals and open the conversation around suicide-related grief.

It provides one-to-one professional support through talking therapies and offers a helpline staffed by bereavement counsellors.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas is among the charity's ambassadors.
