The 1921 census shows that the publican and his wife, Henry and Janet Barradine were living at the Royal Oak pub in Sewardstone Road, Chingford, with their 21-year-old daughter as seen in the photo.
Built in the early 19th century, its most famous owner was football legend Terry Venables whose family owned the pub for 37 years.
The pub was demolished in 2004 to make way for Ashbrook Court Care Home.
