With the inviting aroma of bubbling cheese and sizzling toppings wrapping around me like a warm embrace, I couldn’t help but ask myself: was I about to have the best pizza in London?

It’s probably a bit of an exaggeration to say that everybody on this planet loves pizza, but it certainly feels that way sometimes.

My friend and I tried Leytonstone’s new pizzeria, interestingly called Eat My Pizza, on July 29, and I honestly think they served the best pizzas I have ever eaten.

As soon as we entered the restaurant, I felt like I had stepped into a local Italian pizzeria.

We were taken to our seats, handed menus and given a few minutes to make our starter choices.

My friend ordered the cheesy garlic bread, while I ordered the veal meatballs, which were braised in tomato sauce (yum!), taggiasca olives, capers, red onions, basil and grated Parmesan.

At first, I judged Ayshah’s choice as basic, but I was proved wrong; even the simplest dishes were absolutely delicious.

I knew this because sharing is caring, and starters are meant for sharing.

As for my starter, the meatballs were absolutely BURSTING with flavour and the rich tomato sauce clung to them.

Each bite was a delightful explosion of tender meat and zesty ingredients, the briny olives and tangy capers perfectly balancing the sweetness of the sauce.

So, what comes next?

It was time to order our mains, and, while I’m usually someone who knows what they want straight away, this was a rare instance where I was indecisive.

Ayshah went basic again by ordering the Margherita, while I went for the Fresca, which came with tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes, Italian beef bresaola, and fresh rocket.

Ayshah’s facial reaction said it all as soon as she took the first bite, and I’ll say it again: these were the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

The waiter highly suggested I get the spicy mayo and as a great sauce enthusiast, I ordered it in a heartbeat.

The sauce was delicious, and I’m pretty sure I was dipping until the pot was clean.

By the end of the meal, all that was left was the crust I reluctantly left behind.

And, as always, there’s room for dessert. Ayshah ordered a few scoops of vanilla ice cream, and I ordered the sweetest, tastiest, most amazing Profiteroles ever.
