Victoria line trains were not running in the early morning after a person was hit by a train.

Emergency services flooded King’s Cross underground station today (August 20) at 7.06am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The London Ambulance Service said its first paramedics arrived on the scene around three minutes after being called.

Despite this, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”

One bus lane was closed at Euston Road, next to the station, as ambulances blocked the bus stops.

An ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a hazardous area response team were sent to the scene along with a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance.

The Victoria line was suspended for hours in the morning and by around 9.18am service returned, but with severe delays.

At the time of publication, 10.50am, severe delays continue throughout the line.
