CCTV footage from a cafe in Buckhurst Hill captured the extraordinary moment two cars narrowly avoid hitting people seated outside.

Customers at Simple Food and Coffee in Queens Road had the lucky escape from the crash yesterday afternoon (August 19).

The cafe's CCTV camera caught the crash on video as one car gained air-time, flying right past customers who had been seated outside.

An employee can be seen setting a table as diners chat before two moving cars come into view of the camera.

They crash into a parked car before coming to a stop on the pavement in front of frightened onlookers.

One woman could be seen clutching her face as the crash unfolded in front of her eyes.

Simple Food and Coffee's manager, Serhat Ayaz, said he had been running the cafe as usual just before the crash.

He said: "I was just working and serving a customer. All of a sudden there was a car that hit another and they both jumped.

"They hit the pavement, crashing. I'm just glad that everyone's okay because ten seconds before, two ladies walked in with babies. They came to the shop.
