A person was stabbed at Notting Hill Carnival as police cracked down on weapons and crime during the event.

Police were called to a stabbing in Notting Hill Carnival during the second day (August 26) of the two-day festivities.

Officers were at the scene in the evening and one person had non-life threatening injuries after a stabbing.

The paper saw a moment when a male had blood gushing from his face after an attack, as multiple officers rushed to the scene to deescalate the situation.

The Metropolitan Police says that despite the attack, the force was able to take multiple weapons off the streets.

Earlier in the day, a car in Harrow which was enroute to the carnival was stopped as a firearm was seized and two people were arrested.

Another firearm was also taken at an entry point to the event.

A man, who was wanted for attempted murder in Hackney in July, was also arrested after he was spotted at the carnival.

Throughout the day, 49 weapons were seized and 230 arrests were made.

On the Sunday (August 25), there were three stabbings with a 29-year-old man in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a 24-year-old man also stabbed, whose condition had yet to be confirmed.
