Mamma Mia! in the West End is incredible, mesmerising, phenomenal, and actually frustrating – because all you want to do is get up and sing, dance and party.
It’s the perfect night out, the perfect date night, the perfect hen, or the perfect friends meet-up – Mamma Mia! at London’s Novello Theatre is a must-watch.
With an extended booking period to September 27, 2025 – there’s not much excuse not to.
My mum and I went to see Mamma Mia! on a Friday night and it was so feel-good and so well performed that we just wanted more and more.
It was a birthday treat for my mum, and she came out beaming and smiling more than I’ve seen in a long while.
Weirdly enough, I’d actually say that one of the best parts of the show is the end – and yes, that might sound weird when I’m raving about how good it is.
At the end of the show, the audience becomes part of the show with a standing-ovation sing-and-dance-along chance to feel like you’re living your best ABBA life on a Greek island.
The cast sing classics while the audience jump, sing and dance with them – which was much-needed after I had struggled to keep my voice and hands and legs to myself throughout the performance when I was itching to join in.
Having originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999, before moving to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004, then to the Novello Theatre in 2012 – it is no surprise that the London production of Mamma Mia! has been seen by over 10 million people.
The London production stars Mazz Murray as Donna, Kate Graham as Tanya, Nicola-Dawn Brook as Rosie, Haydn Oakley as Sam, Christopher Dickins as Harry, Stephen Beckett as Bill, Stevie Doc as Sophie, Tobias Turley as Sky, Jessie Odeleye as Ali, Olivia Brookes as Lisa, Chay Wills as Eddie and Arcangelo Ciulla as Pepper, with Natalie Langston playing Donna at certain performances.
If it was possible to put in to writing how talented, pitch-perfect, witty and well-executed these actors and actresses were, then honestly I would, but I don’t think I could do it justice.
Personal favourites included Mazz Murray, Kate Graham and Nicola-Dawn Brook who played Donna, Tanya and Rosie in the most hilarious and emotionally captivating way.
And, of course Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley who were the worthy winners of ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream which searched for new young talent to join the stage musical With music & lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.
From Monday, October 7 there will be a slightly new star-studded cast, and I reckon that’s a good enough excuse to go and see it again.
