An Air India flight has declared an emergency on its approach to London Heathrow Airport after a suspected bomb threat.
RAF Typhoon fighter jets have scrambled to intercept the Flight AIC129 plane from Mumbai as it approaches Heathrow.
The flight departed Mumbai at 7.05am (IST) and was scheduled to land at London Heathrow at 12.05pm.
The aircraft activated the emergency code “squawking 7700” while circling over East England.
Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 shows the aircraft has since deactivated the emergency code.
Indian airlines have received a spate of threats to domestic and international flights on social media this month, all of which have turned out to be hoaxes.
On Wednesday, an Air Akasa flight headed to Bengaluru city was redirected to Delhi following a bomb threat.
Just one day before Singapore's Air Force scrambled two fighter jets to escort an Air India Express plane following a bomb threat.
The UK-bound flight has since landed at Heathrow following the RAF escort.
In a statement, Heathrow Airport said: "We can confirm the aircraft has landed safely."
