A “serious" motorcycle crash has shut down the M25.

There have been severe delays today (October 30) due to a crash on the M25 as it was closed clockwise between J25 Waltham Cross Interchange (Enfield, Hertford A10) and J26 Waltham Abbey Interchange (Waltham Abbey, Loughton A121).

Essex Police were called to the clockwise carriageway to a crash at 1.25pm.

An spokesperson said: "We were called to the scene of a collision involving a motorcycle on the M25 clockwise, close to junction 26 at Waltham Abbey, at about 1.25pm today.

"Working with emergency service colleagues we have closed the carriageway while we continue that work, and the disruption caused is expected to last for several hours."

At the time of reporting, there is no indication of any injuries.

However, the National Highways called this a "serious collision".

Traffic caught within the closure started to be turned around from the rear of the queue before 4pm - however this will be a “slow process”, the National Highways said.
