The boss of a family-owned coffee shop in Walthamstow says it "loves being part of the community" after opening earlier this year.
Bern's and the Beans spoke to this paper about its time since opening in Walthamstow in July.
The cafe was opened in the summer as a family project, with Michael Seedin birthing the initial concept.
The family were existing owners of the building in Orford Road, having previously rented it to a cheese company.
Michael, head chef and co-owner, said: "It's very nice working here. Obviously being a village, it’s quite tight-knit, everyone knows everyone.
"It’s a lovely place to be. It’s a really nice community and we love being part of it.
“We now have our regular customers to the point of knowing exactly what they are going to order."
Bern's and the Beans have adopted the slogan 'Not your average cafe', which Michael believes is evident through their menu.
"We're starting to become known for our hot salt beef bagel", said Michael.
“Everything is homemade fresh, we make our own school cake and brownies.
“We have a smash burger menu, and we also do a modern European style small plates selection which we have just started to run.
Michael is keen for nearby residents to grasp an understanding of Bern's and the Beans' individuality.
“Some people don’t understand yet that we are not just a café.
"We even have a bar as well with our alcohol license.
“People are still learning that were not just serving coffee and cake."
