A MAN was killed last night in a horrific motorbike crash.
23-year-old Ajay De-Silva, of Primrose Road, South Woodford, crashed near a relative's home in Hall Lane, Chingford, and died at the scene.
London Ambulance was called at 8pm to reports of an accident in Hall Lane - which is a 20mph road.
Two fast-response vehicles and an ambulance attended, but Mr De-Silva died before they could save him.
Many friends and family visited the scene of the crash today to lay flowers and cards in memory of the popular young man.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information.
They say Mr De-Silva was in collision with an Audi TT car and a lamppost Hall Lane at the junction with Waltham Way.
He was riding a Suzuki motorbike with a group of four other men travelling on separate bikes, when the collision took place.
Another member of the group also collided with the Audi, but was not seriously injured.
The four motorcyclists left the scene before police arrival.
The driver of the Audi, a man, stopped at the scene.
LAS and police attended but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem carried out at Queens Road Mortuary today gave cause of death as head injuries.
An inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course.
There have been no arrests and inquiries continue.
Investigating officer DS Abi Lambkin of Chadwell Heath's Collision investigation unit, said: " We are appealing for anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact police in confidence.
"Anyone with information should contact the incident room on 020 8597 4874 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
