A GANG of four yobs assaulted and robbed a man as he crossed a Leytonstone footbridge.
The man, 24, was walking from Church Lane, across the bridge, which crosses the A12, when the four robbers approached him.
Two of them punched him and demanded he hand over his mobile phone. They also searched his pockets and took £10.
The robbers then fled in different directions.
All four robbers are described as black men, aged about 20 years and between 5ft 8in and 6ft.
One was wearing a black cap, black jacket, jeans, and black gloves and sped away on a bicycle.
Another was wearing a wooly hat, long green jacket and jeans.
The other two were wearing dark clothing.
The attack happened on Christmas Eve at about 7.45pm.
