FAIRLOP Waters has been named as one of the finalists in London Mayor Boris Johnson's contest to award one park in the capital £2 million in grants for improvement work.
The park, in Barkingside, is one of six finalists, beating off entrants from across London.
If it gets the money, improvements such as new cycle lanes and extensive flower planting could be on the cards.
A panel from the Greater London Authority will decide next month which park gets the money.
Fairlop Waters could also receive a further £400,000 if it comes in the top ten of a separate public vote for funding.

Voting closes on January 30.
