THE mother of the baby who died after suffering sustained abuse is due to be sentenced today for his manslaughter.
the 22-year-old was found guilty of killing her three month old son, identified as "Baby J", at a flat in Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
London Ambulance Service were called by the mother on September 29, 2007. The baby was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead soon after.
A post mortem examination revealed that Baby J had head injuries similar to those caused in a car crash.
Other older injuries were found, suggesting sustained abuse.
Following a murder trial last November, the mother was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
She is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey today (Wednesday).
