TEMPERS flared as rival factions clashed at a Leyton mosque.
Police were called on Friday afternoon following reports of a altercation at the Waltham Forest Islamic Association, otherwise known as Lea Bridge Road Mosque.
It is believed two groups have been locked in a complex, long-running dispute over control of the mosque.
Witnesses said the situation threatened to spill over into violence when one group were refused entry to the premises.
Three police vans attended and tried to calm the situation.
However supporters of the barred group gathered and chanted angrily at those inside.
No arrests were made.
